It’s been a tough weekend and morning. Knowing I was going to put PhotoBricks on sale today but having to be patient, stick to my planned release window.
It’s done now. The game is available for sale: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4539910/PhotoBricks/
I don’t know if anybody’s bought it. Steamworks has plentiful reports, statistics, analysis, I’m just refusing to look at it. Otherwise I’ll be hitting refresh every few seconds.
What I hadn’t expected is people joining my Discord server. That’s only been up for a week, and in hindsight that was a terrible mistake. I need to get the Steam Store page live for the next game long before I finish it, and start building a community on Discord which I can tap into for play tests and feedback.
The other thing amusing me is that half the people joining on Discord send a friend request, and the other half send a direct message. People join the server but rather than post there they seem to use it to find me personally, then send me a message.
Sadly several of those are people offering their game publicity services, so I’m having to disappoint them – not part of my marketing strategy. I’m being pro-active rather than reactive in finding suitable partners.
I’ll post an update later this week on how things have gone. For today and tomorrow, I’m on support duty: making sure that if anybody does encounter issues I can quickly address them. It may be a cheap game on Steam but it’s paid software, response times matter, and the players come first.
